Thriller Evaluation | Question 1 | In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

  1. Your evaluation of the location, and your point about the lamp is effective. You could add that in the opening to "Once Upon a time in America" the lap is associated with Eve, and when she dies the bent detective turns the Tiffany lamp off.

I suggest one final section to reflect that you understand the question. Think about saying.

We used the convention of classic noir thrillers like The Third Man and ..... by using colour alteration during the edit. This is to establish the film as a noir thriller based on the noir blue print of thrillers in the 1940's

Re costume, we used suits in order once more to reinforce the classic thriller credentials of the film. For example in the opening to "Casino Royale" James bond wears a suit which is a convention of gangster thrillers such as "The Godfather" films...then insert a screen shot from You Tube from The Godfather. Type in the search bar of You Tube...Michael Settles All Family Business 10/10 (HD) . This is from "The Godfather Part III".

We also used a gun and included the murder of two men. Weapons and murder are a convention of the genre, for example.........

We challenged the convention of the male in thrillers being the centre and perpetrator of the action by using a young girl who commits the murders in seemingly cold blood. In James Bond films such as Quantum of Solace, go to You Tube and type in the search bar......Craig's Bond - ALL Bond Villain Deaths (Casino Royale & Quantum Of Solace).

Reece your female killer is more in the mould of Velda in "Mildred Pierce". Go to You Tube and type in ...Mildred Pierce (10/10) Movie CLIP - Veda's Secret (1945) HD. The murder Reece is at 2.03 minutes. You could get a great screen shot of this. And note the colour is in black and white.

As advised above this would enhance your question and pull together your points.

  2. Without revisions Level 2. With a conclusion as I've suggested a strong Level 3.
